Scholarships

MINORITY COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS

This is a centrally sponsored scheme to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities (Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Buddhists and Parsis). These scholarships are awarded through an agency designated by the State Government for this purpose. The Scholarships under the following schemes are available to the students belonging to minority communities.

(i) Merit-Cum-means Scholarship
The objects of these scholarships to provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities whose parents's income is less than Rs. 2.5 lac per annum, to enable them to purse professional and technical courses.

(ii) Post Matric Scholarship
These scholarship are provided to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities whose parents income is less than Rs. 2 lac per annum to enable them to pursue courses in Arts and Humanities, Science and Commerce streams.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste Students

This is a centrally sponsored scheme. Under this scheme, Punjab Domicile students belonging to Scheduled castes/Seheduled Tribes are given Scholarship by Punjab Govt.

(i) Conditions of Eligibility: The student must belong to the scheduled caste/scheduled tribe and the annual income of students family must not exceed Rs. 2.5 lac.

(ii) Fee: According to Government of India letter no. 11017/01/2008-SCD-V dated 29-04-2013, the SC/ST students whose parents/guardians have annual income not exceeding Rs. 2.5 lac shall not be charged tuition fee and non refundable compulsory fee (such as fee for admission, registration, tuition fees, sports, library, magazine, medical, examination and such fee as are compulsory charged by the University) at the time of admission.

Post Matric Scholarship Scheme for other Backward class students

This is a centrally sponsored scheme. Under this scheme, Punjab domicile students belonging to the Backward classes are given scholarship by Punjab Govt.

Conditions of Eligibility: The students must belong to the other backward classes and the annual income of student's family must not exceed Rs. 1 Lac (BPL).

UGC Special Scholarship for J & K students

Two students from J & K admitted under supernumerary quota scheme will be eligible for the special scholarship by UGC.

"Ishan Uday" Scholarships for North Eastern Students

Children belonging to the economically weaker section of the north eastern region, the UGC has decided to launch special scholarship scheme for north eastern region students.

The objectives of the Special Scholarship Scheme for North Eastern Region are:
Students with domicile of NER who have passed Class XII or equivalent exam from a school situated within the States of North Eastern Region.

SCHOLARSHIPS

  • 95% and above: 100% Scholarship on Academic Fee
  • 90 and <95% : 50% Scholarship on Academic Fee
  • 85 and <90% 20% Scholarship on Academic Fee
  • 80 and <85% 10% Scholarship on Academic Fee
