Application for admission must be made on the prescribed application form issued with the College prospectus. The candidate must fill the Application Form in her own handwriting.
DOCUMENTS / PROOFS / INFORMATION REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION
The applicants must produce the following documents in original, at the time of admission and also attach self-attested copies of the following with their application forms:
For all candidates
- Matriculation Certificate.
- University/Board Certificate of the last examination passed.
- Original Character Certificate from the Principal/ Headmaster/Chairperson of the College/ School/ University/ Department last attended.
- Three recent passport size coloured photographs.
- Registration of Residence - Every student at the time of admission shall supply his latest residential address with telephone number to the college office and intimate change, if any, during the period of his/her studies.
- An affidavit in duplicate from a candidate having gap year is required.
RULES FOR WITHDRAWAL FROM COLLEGE
- A student who wishes to leave the college must tender application dually counter signed by her parents or authorized guardian. Until a student's name is formally withdrawn, she is liable to pay all college dues and fines levied. Students leaving the college must inform the principal in writing.
- No certificate of any kind shall be issued to those leaving the College without permission. Refund of fee is not permissible.
- No certificates of any kind shall be issued to the students who have not cleared the arrears of fine, College dues, fine, Library books or Library fine.
COLLEGE LEAVE RULES
- Students should apply for leave on a prescribed form duly countersigned by parents or authorized guardians.
- Leave from the College upto seven days can be granted by the principal, duly recommended by the tutor concerned (only in emergency cases).
- The name of the student who remains absent from College for 6 consecutive days without permission, shall be struck off the College rolls.
- Total leave/absence should not exceed 25% of full course of lectures.
- Absence from the Tutorial/N.C.C parade entails a fine of Rs. 10/- and from Athletic Meet Rs. 50/- per day.
- Absence from lecturer in days a fine of Rs 1/- per lecture.
MIGRATION CANDIDATES
- Migration Certificate not required from students of School Boards of Punjab, Haryana and HP and CBSE, Delhi. The candidates coming from other Universities/Boards/Councils/ Bodies should bring the original migration certificate and qualifying exam certificate at the time of admission. Admission shall not be granted without submission of the Migration and Eligibility Certificate in original.
- A candidate who has passed her I/II year examination of BA/B Sc(Home Science)/ B.Com/BCA course conducted by another University or College affiliated to another university in India under specific authorization by the University concerned is allowed to migrate to a college affiliated to Punjabi University Patiala in the II/III year class of the respective course on the condition that such a candidate will have to clear the deficient subject/s if any, within the permissible chances.
- Midterm migration from other universities is not permissible.
- A student migrating from a college affiliated to P.U. Chandigarh/ GNDU Amritsar/ KU Kurukshetra and HPU Shimla to a college affiliated to the Punjabi university Patiala must note that he will not be admitted to the same course unless he produces :-
- Eligibility certificate from Punjabi University, Patiala.
- A migration certificate from the university concerned.
- The lower examination pass certificate.
- A lecture statement from the college he migrates from.
- Migration fee and eligibility fee shall be charged from every student coming from another University.
- Migration shall not be allowed after expiry of last date of receipt of admission form of the annual examination without late fee.
- Migration of a student from a professional college to an art or science college and vice versa is not permissible.
- When the migration of the student has been allowed, he must join the new college within 15 days otherwise the migration shall automatically stand cancelled.
(The migration shall be allowed only if the applicant is eligible for admission to the course under the Punjabi University, Patiala regulations.)
CANDIDATES FROM OPEN SCHOOL
Students who have passed +2 examination from a recognised Open School are eligible for admission to the BA/BSc/BCA/ BCom I year course, only if their result is shown as 'PASS' in their certificates issued by the said Open Schools and they have obtained the requisite percentage of marks.
LATE DECLARATION OF RESULTS
For a student whose result of +2 examination conducted by a School Board/ Open School Board, Delhi is declared late, the normal admission will be made without late fee within 15 working days of the declaration of the result and his/her attendance shall be counted from the date of actual admission. After the expiry of the above said period, approval of late admission from the Vice Chancellor is required.
HOUSE EXAMINATIONS
- In order to incorporate an element of continuous assessment of students, the College will conduct two mandatory House Tests in theory papers one in the month of September/October and the other in December/January.
- For September Test, there will be only one paper of 11⁄2 hour duration in each subject.
- For December Test, there will be paper/s of 3 hours duration on the pattern of annual examination conducted by the University.
- The student who attends 75% lectures shall be allowed to appear in these tests.
- There will be a Special Test (discretionary or condition test) with additional fee (as applicable) on request by student and followed by principal permission in Jan/Feb for those students who could not fulfill the conditions of eligibility in the House Test.
CHANGE OF SUBJECT/FACULTY
Students are permitted to change faculty/subject within one month from the commencement of the session on the payment of fee of Rs. 200/- only. Students wishing to change a subject shall have to apply on the form prescribed for this purpose.
Note: No change in the subject is permitted after the due date.
RULES FOR ADMISSION TO UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION
A student shall be eligible to appear in the University Examination if student:
- has attended 75% of the full course of lectures and practical arranged for her class in each subject.
- has obtained at least 25% marks in aggregate of all subjects in the House Examinations.
